Durham County has a new event sprouting this fall specifically for you. This September 25, from 4 to 6 p.m., the Durham Cooperative Extension together with Durham Soil and Water Conservation District are sowing the seeds for their inaugural Fall Native Plant Sale, which was reported on by Durham County Government’s official news page.
The event promises an assembly of local vendors from Durham County, all showcasing a variety of central North Carolina plants that are ready for fall planting and thriving, the sale takes place at the Cooperative Extension office parking lot at 721 Foster Street; the heart of downtown Durham, and though free to attend the organizers request a courtesy RSVP for a headcount. Vendors such as Driver Street Nursery, Durham Flower Farm, Flowering Earth Natives, and Wolfberry Hawthorn Farm will have their plants individually priced for sale.
Amid the plants and purchases, Durham’s Extension Master Gardener volunteers and Durham Soil & Water staff will be present to dispense advice and information regarding local programs that residents might find helpful. “Our first Fall Native Plant Sale is a great opportunity for folks to buy native plants from Durham County native plant growers, all in one easy location,” Horticulture Agent Ashley Troth enthused, as reported on Durham County Government’s news page.
