They rocked on Staten Island 2 decades ago; now they’re dads reuniting with a new rap-rock sound

STATEN ISLAND, NY — Saints in Exile may be a new name, but for Staten Island music fans, its three members are far from strangers.

The rap-rock trio — Justin Sarachik, 36, of Prince’s Bay; Michael Giordano, 36, originally from Rosebank and now living in New Jersey; and Emmanuel “Manny” Mavrakis, 37, of Dongan Hills — were fixtures in the borough’s live music scene nearly two decades ago, when Stapleton venues like the Muddy Cup (which went on to change names and ownership multiple times) and Dock Street regularly hosted local bands.

Back then, Sarachik fronted Process of Fusion, Giordano fronted It’s Not Over and Mavrakis held down the drums in EveryNightDrive. Now, after years of pursuing careers, families and side projects, the three have reunited as Saints in Exile…
