Missouri Highway 45 Shut Down Wednesday Afternoon After Report of Shots Fired Near Baker Road

Platte City, MO – A disturbance along Missouri Highway 45 led to a two-hour shutdown Wednesday afternoon after authorities investigated reports of a man possibly firing a shot near Baker Road.

According to the Platte County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 1:45 p.m. after a caller reported a man sitting in the northbound lane of MO-45 inside a black sedan with its hazard lights on. Witnesses told authorities the man was attempting to flag down drivers and may have entered vehicles before deputies arrived. A shot was also reportedly fired during the incident.

Deputies said they located the man, who was unharmed but incoherent and appeared to be experiencing a severe mental health crisis. He was detained and taken to a local hospital for evaluation, where he was placed on a 96-hour involuntary mental health hold…
