Police officer injured in explosion under west Lincoln bridge

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – One person was cited after a police officer was injured in an explosion under a west Lincoln bridge Thursday morning.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue along with the Lincoln Police Department responded to an area underneath the West O Street bridge near North 1st Street around 7 a.m. for reports of trespassing in the area.

LPD said transients had a fire going, when there was an explosion. The fire investigator reported a police officer moved a blanket that was near the fire, causing something to explode…
