Dane County Sheriff speaks ahead of vote on jail communications contract

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – A Dane County Jail communications contract could save families of jail residents $5 million over a five-year period, Sheriff Kalvin Barrett said during a news conference Thursday.

Sheriff Barrett explained the contract would save more than $100 per month for the cost of inmates’ tablets, which they use for communication like making phone and video calls. The tablets are also used for reading books and watching movies.
