Beef Shack has been around Illinois for a while, and I remembered liking their beef sandwich back when I tried the St. Charles location. So when they finally took over the long-abandoned Burger King in Wood Dale, I was excited. That spot sat empty forever, and it’s nice to see it filled with something worthwhile.
The menu centers around beef sandwiches, but don’t expect your typical Italian beef. This is more like a carved roast beef sandwich dipped in au jus. The standout here is the cheesy beef on garlic bread—and that’s exactly what I ordered, along with fresh-cut fries and a side of giardiniera. The total came to $20 with tax, which is definitely on the pricey side.
