SHREVEPORT, La. — A house fire Thursday evening drew a heavy fire and police presence.
At one time, 21 fire units responded to the scene of the fire on Olive Street between Centenary Boulevard and Coty Street. Seven Shreveport police units also were on site.
Flames and heavy smoke were coming from the roof when firefighters arrived at about 6:20 p.m. Crews from Shreveport Fire Department Engine 7 initially initiated a transitional attack, with firefighters entering the structure to combat the fire directly.
Ladder Truck 7 was also utilized on the scene, with crews using it for vertical ventilation to release heat and smoke, improving conditions for interior operations.
Due to the intensity and location of the fire, the incident commander deemed it necessary to transition from an offensive to a defensive strategy, with crews fighting the fire from the exterior of the building…
