Minnehaha County oil company faces zoning controversy

A regional fuel delivery company near Baltic is facing controversy after failing to obtain Minnehaha County permits and proper zoning for a large new equipment storage and trucking facility.

A hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 23 to discuss the issue involving changing the zoning from agricultural to commercial.

County Planning Director Scott Anderson told county commissioners on Tuesday that the 15-acre property is just over a mile east of the Midway Corner at the intersection of South Dakota Highway 115 and County Road 122 and is being purchased on a contract for deed by Vollan Oil Co. from John Schreurs…
