KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A Maryville man has been convicted on multiple charges connected to a stabbing that left three people injured at a bar in Bearden on New Year’s Day in 2024, the Knox County District Attorney General’s Office said.
District Attorney Charme Allen’s office said Shawn Edward Hatcher, 50, was convicted of two counts of aggravated assault, as well as charges of assault and unlawful possession of a weapon. Hatcher’s sentencing has been set for October 24, where he faces six to 10 years on each count of aggravated assault.

During the two-day trial, prosecutors told the jury that on January 1, 2024, Knoxville Police officers responded to a 911 call about a stabbing at the Brickyard Bar and Grill on Homberg Drive in Bearden. There, the officers learned that Hatcher had been flirting with a woman who asked him to stop touching her, and that another woman had told Hatcher to leave woman he was flirting with alone.
As the second woman was leaving with her group of friends, the DA’s office said Hatcher punched and then stabbed her. Two men in the group intervened, but they were also stabbed and cut by Hatcher, according to the DA’s release…
