Now in its second year, Pie in the Park returned to Forestville Downtown Oaks Park, one of the town’s two privately owned community gathering places. More than a beloved festival, the event is also a fundraiser to help maintain the park. Since its preservation in 2013 by the Forestville Planning Association (FPA), soon to be renamed the Forestville Partnership Alliance, the park has become a hub of local life. On this warm summer day, it buzzed with laughter, music, and the irresistible aroma of homemade and bakery pies.
Forestville Downtown Oaks Park sits on land long cherished by Indigenous people of the region, for whom the oak groves hold deep cultural and spiritual significance.
