Chattanooga, TN – The Public Works Department released an update on the Heritage Landing Drive sinkhole repair, outlining a new repair approach and an expedited project timeline.
A recent camera inspection of the underground drainage line revealed that the damage was more extensive than initially expected. The affected area extends beyond the visible sinkhole and runs beneath a large seven-foot wastewater pipe. To avoid potential damage to this critical sewer line, engineers shifted to a specialized repair method.
City staff are finalizing the design, which is expected to be completed by mid-September. The project will then proceed through an emergency bid process, reducing the typical bidding period by about three months.
