CHINESE CAMP, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – As wildfires continue to rage across areas of Calaveras, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne counties as part of the TCU September Lightning Complex, one historic community impacted appears poised to never be the same.
Chinese Camp, located north of Lake Don Pedro and nearly 20 miles northwest of Mariposa County, has been left in ruin after the 6-5 Fire rushed through, decimating buildings dating back to the 1850s, when scores of Chinese miners flooded the census-designated place in search of gold.
