Arrest made in West Des Moines overnight shooting that injured 1

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — An arrest has been made in an overnight shooting that sent one person to the hospital in West Des Moines.

At around 3:14 a.m. Thursday, officers with the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment in the 8600 block of Westown Parkway. According to the WDMPD, when first responders arrived at the apartment they encountered two people, including one who appeared to have been shot.

Fort Dodge police release identity of Tuesday’s shooting victim

Police said the victim was transported to a hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

On Thursday afternoon, the WDMPD announced it had made an arrest in the shooting. Harris Kpor was booked into the Dallas County Jail on the following charges:

  • Willful Injury
  • Reckless Use of a Firearm
  • Assault While Participating in a Felony
  • Going Armed with Intent
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver
  • Domestic Assault with a Weapon
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
