City of Columbus files lawsuit against railroad company

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – The Columbus Consolidated Government has filed a lawsuit to try to claim property currently being used by railroad companies in the heart of the city.

The lawsuit claims Norfolk Southern is occupying city property by using the railroad for its own non-public services, which goes against the agreement made nearly two centuries ago.

According to the legal document, the agreement between the city and the railroad company goes back to the 1840s…
