Crime Victim: If Your Car Is Stolen in Detroit ‘Nothing Will Be Done About It’

Detroit News reporter George Hunter writes a story about victims complaining about the Detroit Police Department’s response to non-violent crimes, such as car theft.

Heather Beatham and her fiancé, Jacob Roderick, recount that they reported their 2025 Dodge Durango stolen on August 9, a day after it was taken from spot at John R and Mack, near a city-owned building with surveillance cameras, while attending a concert at The Fillmore on Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit.

They said they never heard back from police until The Detroit News inquired about the case…
