Law enforcement dismantles “factory-like” drug operation in Philly

PHILADELPHIA — Twenty-one people have been charged in connection with a high-level cocaine trafficking organization in North Philadelphia, according to Pa. Attorney General Dave Sunday. The charges follow a series of arrests and seizures that officials said dismantled a major criminal network.

Sixteen suspects were taken into custody on Sept. 4 in coordinated operations across the Philadelphia area, the attorney general’s office said on Friday. Bail for those arrested was set between $1 million and $5 million.

Investigators seized 12 kilograms of cocaine, 50 pounds of marijuana, 19 firearms and about $275,000 in cash during the raids, Sunday’s office said. Some of the weapons were illegally possessed due to prior felony convictions and that all were linked to the drug organization’s activities…
