FORT PIERCE – Former Fort Pierce City Manager Nicholas Mimms’ attorney has filed a motion for one of two criminal counts to be dropped in his case that alleges questionable public practices in awarding a lease for a 2020 Lincoln Park development proposal.
Donnie Murrell, a West Palm Beach attorney representing Mimms, is asking St. Lucie County Circuit Judge Michael J. Linn to dismiss one count of official misconduct in connection with Mimms’ alleged role in improperly awarding a low-cost lease of city-owned lots on Avenue D to a non-profit headed by two then-city employees.
Meanwhile, former Fort Pierce City Attorney Peter J. Sweeney has been summoned for deposition questioning by both the defense and prosecution. Sweeney was city attorney from 2028-2021, including in 2020, when the land bid was awarded by the city to Lincoln Park Young Professionals (LPYP) for container-housed classrooms, a library and a kitchen on the vacant lots…
