Plea negotiations underway for man accused of hitting, killing girl in Raleigh Christmas Parade, lawyer says

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A man accused of losing control of his truck during the 2022 Raleigh Christmas Parade and hitting and killing an 11-year-old girl could take a plea in the case.

Landen Glass’ lawyer, Roger Smith Jr., confirmed to CBS 17 plea negotiations are underway. Smith says the negotiations are standard in all criminal cases.

The 11-year-old victim, Hailey Brooks, was dancing in the parade when she was killed. Witnesses told CBS 17 they heard a truck honking its horn as people were told to get out of the way. A CBS 17 photojournalist at the parade reported hearing the driver, later identified as Glass, yelling that he couldn’t stop because something was wrong with his brakes…
