COVID-19 levels increase in Sacramento region as new Western States Health Alliance forms

SACRAMENTO, Calif. β€” COVID-19 levels are once again climbing in the Sacramento region and across California, according to local health officials. The rise comes as California joins three other states to form the Western States Health Alliance, a partnership launched amid growing concerns over shifting federal public health guidance.

Wastewater testing in Sacramento and West Sacramento is showing some of the highest levels of COVID-19 since last summer. Local health experts say the numbers are also reflected in an increase in emergency department visits tied to the virus.
