A recent shooting in West Boynton Beach has culminated with suspect Robert Lee Gipson surrendering to authorities on Tuesday. The incident, which occurred on August 10, resulted in one fatality and two others being wounded. Gipson faces multiple charges including first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, BocaNewsNow reports.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has stated that the tragic event stemmed from a confrontation over noise from a gathering near Gipson’s apartment. During an emergency call Gipson claimed, “I was about to get jumped. Dude was trying to jump me. I shot one. I killed him,” as recounted in his arrest report obtained by The Palm Beach Post. The deceased victim, identified as 47-year-old Berkens Obas, succumbed to the injuries sustained during the shooting.
At the time of the incident, deputies arriving at the scene found the victims and immediately launched an investigation into the circumstances of the shooting, which was reported to have occurred without any physical altercation.
