Fire in Gentilly destroys home, damages others nearby

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A two-alarm fire destroyed a home and damaged three others in the Gentilly neighborhood of New Orleans on Friday, Sept. 5.

According to the New Orleans Fire Department, crews responded to the intersection of Madrid and Painters streets around 8 p.m., where they found a single-family home almost completely in flames.

NOFD officials said additional crews arrived after they determined that the flames were beginning to extend to nearby homes. Neighbors told crews that the home where the fire started was unoccupied.
