The Storm Prediction Center is indicating increased risk for severe thunderstorms by adding a zone of “slight” risk or a 15 percent chance of severe thunderstorms. It also expanded the geographic area of risk and it covers much of Eastern and Southeastern Pennsylvania, Northern and Western New Jersey, the Hudson Valley in New York State, Southeastern New York including New York City, and parts of Western New England. The Storm Prediction Center is also indicating a 2 percent risk for isolated tornadoes that can spin up as thunderstorms approach and move through.
