Sacramento Father-Daughter Duo Brings Black Food Festival Back To Florin Square

A Sacramento father-daughter duo is bringing Black cuisine from across the diaspora to center stage at Florin Square.

What began as a grassroots gathering to uplift Black-owned food businesses has grown into a major platform for local chefs, bakers, and artisans. Now in its seventh year, the Black Food Festival was founded by Berry Accius, a Haitian American chef and entrepreneur, who saw the need for Sacramento to embrace the full diversity of Black cuisine.

“I felt like Black food was being both misrepresented and underrepresented,” Accius said. “I looked at all these different festivals, and there wasn’t one that really showcased and highlighted the diversity of our food.”…
