Tampa ranks 5th best city to retire, survey says

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA)— After comparing the best retiree-friendliness cities across the U.S., Tampa was ranked the fifth best city to retire, according to WalletHub.

More than 180 U.S. cities were compared across 45 key metrics by WalletHub, and here are the top five:

  • Orlando, FL
  • Scottsdale, AZ
  • Minneapolis, MN
  • Miami, FL
  • Tampa, FL

“It’s important to choose wisely when picking where to retire, as many retirees are on a fixed income. As a result, the best cities for retired people are those that minimize taxes and expenses, as well as have good opportunities for retirees to continue paid work for extra income, if they choose to do so. In addition, the top cities provide high-quality health care and offer plenty of enjoyable activities for retirees,” Chip Lupo, WalletHub analyst, said.

According to WalletHub, Orlando was named number one because of the lack of taxes, and it is the ninth cheapest city for homemaker services…
