Nebraska law creates task force to fight veteran suicides

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – During the 2025 Nebraska legislative session, Sen. George Dungan introduced LB 414, which passed unanimously and became law on September 3. The bill creates a suicide mortality review team focused on veterans.

The Nebraska Department of Veterans’ Affairs said the state’s veteran suicide rate is nearly 34%, slightly below the national average. This new law allows the team to study correlations between veterans and suicides.
