Unemployment numbers continue to rise in northern Arkansas, southern Missouri in July

The latest unemployment numbers from the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services and the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center show unemployment rates in north central Arkansas and southern Missouri continued to rise in July when compared to the June numbers. It was the second straight month with an increase in the unemployment figures.

In Baxter County, the rate increased from 4.5% in June to 4.6% in July. Baxter County’s rate is tied for the 30th lowest out of Arkansas’ 75 counties. There are 776 unemployed Baxter County residents out of a work force of 16,792.

Marion County’s rate went up from 6.1% in June to 6.5% in July, which is the 7th highest rate in the state. Marion County has 340 residents out of work from a labor force of 5,266…
