HONOLULU, Hawaii – Mariners across Hawaii’s offshore waters are under a Hurricane Warning as dangerous seas and winds build early this week, with the most severe conditions expected east of 154W and north of 20N through Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Honolulu, hurricane conditions will begin to develop Monday and continue into Tuesday, with seas rising up to 12 feet and isolated thunderstorms across northern waters. Tropical storm conditions are likely to expand westward by Wednesday, especially east of 160W and north of 23N, before easing slightly late week.
Small craft and commercial vessels operating out of Honolulu, Hilo, and Kahului are urged to remain in port until conditions improve. The Coast Guard has advised boaters to secure moorings, avoid unnecessary travel, and prepare for rapidly changing weather…
