Incoming front brings cooler temperatures, lower humidity for the new work week

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – A big shift in our weather pattern is on tap early this upcoming week in the wake of a cold front.

First Alert Headlines:

  • Few isolated showers or storms possible through this evening.
  • Additional PM thunderstorms possible Sunday with the passage of the front.
  • Fall-like forecast emerges for the start of the new week.

First Alert Summary:

All eyes are on a cold front that is actively passing through Carolinas this evening. Near and ahead of the front, we will be monitoring a low-end chance of a few isolated downpours or a thunderstorm. Activity on radar, if any, should fade away tonight as temperatures bottom out near 70-degrees.

The frontal system will still be making progress eastward across the state on Sunday as well. This will provide another chance of scattered showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon/evening. Areas farther south and east will have the best potential tomorrow while those in the western Midlands should be drier.

Temperatures in the afternoon are forecast to ‘cool-down’ a bit behind the front with highs in the middle 80s.

Even cooler conditions are on tap for the start of the new work and school week. Highs in the wake of the front will top out in the lower 80s for about the first half of the week. Humidity levels are expected to take a dip as well courtesy of drier air filtering into the Midlands.

First Alert Forecast:

Tonight: Passing shower or storm early on. Lows in the lower 70s…
