Downtown Greenville sees rise in property crimes, drop in violent crime

GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – New crime statistics for 2025 reveal that overall crime in Greenville’s Central Business District has increased compared to last year, despite a notable decrease in violent crime.

The Greenville Police Department’s latest data shows a 24% drop in violent crime cases, including murder, sexual assault and other serious offenses. Police statistics show that 25 such incidents were reported so far this year, compared to 33 during the same time period last year.
