Lakeland gets nearly $1 million grant to improve water quality at Lake Morton

LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) — The City of Lakeland has been awarded a nearly $1 million grant to improve water quality at Lake Morton.

The small lake in the middle of the city is home to Lakeland’s iconic royal swans and numerous other waterfowl.

City officials said the $994,401 in grant funds will go toward the use of advanced technology to reduce nutrient levels, mitigate harmful algal blooms and address legacy nutrient buildup in the lake.
