Eyewitness accounts aren’t always accurate, but journalists love to get people “on the record.” Bruce Childers, wife of extortion and stalking target Escambia County Clerk Pam Childers, shared his account of the 2024 firebombing in his neighborhood, and readers flocked to it.
The Great Commitment Caper
Readers also loved my tongue-in-cheek account of my attempt to get Mayor D.C. Reeves to commit that he will run for reelection in 2026. My favorite paragraph: “Will D.C. run for reelection in 2026? The Return of Ann Hill
The former Pensacola City Council president created a splash when she prefiled to run for mayor. She followed her announcement with a litany of items she plans to accomplish. In 2018, Hill beat Butch Hansen, 2,010 to 1,397. Four years later, Allison Patton defeated her, 1,972 to 1,647.
Mayor’s Presser
Mayor D.C. Reeves’ presser conference covered Airport expansion, Bay Bluffs reopening, Baptist Hospital deal, Maritime Park and affordable housing.
