SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Drivers are facing major delays this weekend as westbound lanes of Interstate 80 between Sacramento and West Sacramento remain closed for construction work.
The full closure began Friday at 9 p.m. and is scheduled to last until 4 a.m. Monday, according to Caltrans. The shutdown covers the stretch from the Interstate 5/Interstate 80 interchange in Sacramento to the Highway 50/Interstate 80 interchange in West Sacramento. Traffic is being diverted onto Interstate 5 in both directions.
The closure is part of a $280 million pavement rehabilitation project, partially funded by $47 million from Senate Bill 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. The westbound shutdown is expected to last about 55 hours in total…
