ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — As students head back to class this fall, the City of Albany Department of Recreation (DOR) is working to keep kids active and safe with engaging after-school activities like their Youth Boxing initiative. The program is held at the DOR’s Albany Boxing training facility at 91 Quail Street.

Children ages six to 17 have the opportunity to learn boxing fundamentals from a team of professional coaches and trainers. Students will get to practice numerous athletic skills, ranging from hand-eye coordination and strike work with a variety of punching bags, to calisthenics and stamina training.
The program runs every Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Youth Boxing initiative is open to all experience levels.
Albany High School to host youth basketball clinics
Parents can register their kids for the boxing program online for free through the DOR website. Anyone with questions is encouraged to call the Albany Boxing training facility at (518)434-2480.
