NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – North Charleston Police say they have arrested a man who led them on a chase and have recovered a loaded gun.
Jontai Jones, 18, is charged with failure to stop for blue lights and resisting arrest, police say. Jail records state a judge set bond at $20,000 for the two charges but also list a charge of reckless driving and additional charges involving a nonregistered vehicle, window tinting, a beginner’s permit violation, operating an unsafe vehicle and an uninsured motor vehicle violation.
Investigators say an officer saw a vehicle speeding down Rivers Avenue just before 5 p.m. on Aug. 30. The vehicle had “several visible violations,” including illegal window tinting, a missing front passenger headlight and a damaged front fender that was dragging on the roadway.
When the officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver, later identified as Jones, sped off, reaching speeds of up to 100 mph, police said…
