D.A. faces protesters at town hall
East Los Angeles: Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Nathan Hochman spoke at a Latino Community Town Hall in East Los Angeles last week, where he pledged to protect businesses from crime, and said federal officials do not consult with the D.A.’s office on immigration raid locations. He was met by supporters but also protestors and critics, who brought up deputy gangs in the East L.A. Sheriff’s station, Sheriff’s Department actions against protestors, and the case of Jeremy Flores, a 26-year-old who was shot and killed in Boyle Heights earlier this summer by LAPD officers.
