Alabama Public Television cuts 15% of employees after $2.8 million in federal funding cuts

Alabama Public Television leaders laid off 15% of its employees after the recent federal funding cuts to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

The cuts claimed half of the documentary production team responsible for projects like SHUTTLESWORTH and arts series Monograph, which spotlight the strength, talent and impact of Alabamians.

In total, 11 employees were laid off, according to APT officials. In addition to the four members of the production team, Director of Programming & Public Information Mike McKenzie said four education staff members, a Public Information & Programming team member and a member of the Montgomery studio team were let go…
