(WJAR) — Rhode Island is commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary by planting 39 “Liberty Trees.”
Red maples, the Rhode Island state tree, will be planted across every city and town through 2026 as symbols of unity, freedom, and Rhode Island’s revolutionary spirit.
“The Liberty Tree project allows us to leave a lasting, visible legacy throughout Rhode Island as we commemorate the nation’s Semiquincentennial,” said Secretary of State Gregg M. Amore, chair of the RI250 Commission. “It’s an honor to work with two excellent municipal partners, Little Compton and Charlestown, for these first planting ceremonies.”…
