Did you know that today, September 8th, is National Ampersand Day? The ampersand—“&”—is a symbol that dates back to ancient Rome, originally representing the Latin word et, meaning “and.” Today, it’s more than just a character on our keyboards. The ampersand beautifully represents connection, unity, and the joining of two things together—making it the perfect emblem for a wedding celebration.
In fact, you’ll often spot ampersands woven into wedding details: from invitations and signage to menus and décor. They’re a small but powerful way to symbolize the new bond being created between two people. One of our favorite examples comes from this elegant cake topper, featured at a Santa Barbara courthouse wedding. After their heartfelt vows downtown, the grooms continued the celebration with a seaside reception at the Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach.
This photo, captured by Tiffany Michele Photography, highlights just how meaningful a simple symbol can be. The ampersand isn’t just decorative—it’s a reminder of the union at the heart of every wedding day…
