Interim Third-Party Manager discusses rate structure at center of lawsuit with the Jackson apartment complex owners

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – The tiered rate structure at the center of a federal lawsuit against JXN Water was initially put in place to help spur conservation and ultimately reduce customers’ costs, so says Interim Third-Party Manager Ted Henifin.

“It’s proven that higher rates at higher volumes get people to pay attention to their use of water,” he said. “You would think in a water-rich part of Mississippi, we wouldn’t be concerned about it. Because it was so bad here, we had to do something.”
