SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Thunderstorms are expected to develop late Monday across southeastern South Dakota, bringing the potential for gusts up to 60 mph, hail, and slick travel conditions along I-29 and I-90, according to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls .
Thunderstorm Hazards Tonight
A pocket of unstable air moving into the region could fuel storm development late this evening.
“Confidence remains low on where storms will form. However, any storms that do develop may produce quarter-sized hail and dangerous wind gusts,” the weather service explained.
Motorists are urged to prepare for sudden downpours that may reduce visibility and create dangerous conditions on major highways.
