Alaska State Parks is inviting residents to hear from one of its most influential leaders.
Neil Johannsen, the longest-serving acting director of Alaska State Parks, will share stories from his tenure spanning 1971 to 1995 on September 10th in Anchorage. His presentation, held from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at the Atwood Building’s William Egan Room, will also be streamed online via Microsoft Teams.
Johannsen, who coined the term “System of Dreams” to describe Alaska’s park system, helped establish 46 park units, including Point Bridget State Park, Chilkat Islands State Park, and the Kenai River Special Management Area.
