Bakersfield man charged for allegedly possessing more than 500 grams of methamphetamine

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A federal grand jury in Fresno indicted a Bakersfield man on Thursday for allegedly owning drugs for distribution, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, Eastern District of California.

Steven Paul Garcia, 53, was charged with possessing more than 500 grams of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, federal prosecutors said in the release.

On Aug. 26, Garcia was pulled over by Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies while driving north on Highway 99 in Fresno County, according to prosecutors. Deputies found about 22 pounds of methamphetamine packaged into 1-pound bags during the stop…
