Keeping the ‘spirit’ of Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery alive

ROBERTSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Not long after immigrating from Germany in 1850, a young Charles Nelson moved to Nashville, Tennessee. He opened a grocery store on what is now Second Avenue.

The whiskey he sold was distilled in Green Brier, Robertson County…. and it was a hit.

Demand was so high that whiskey soon became the full focus for Nelson. He purchased the distillery and it changed the landscape of Robertson County…
