Northside Hospital Gwinnett using new spinal fusion device

Northside Hospital Gwinnett became a trendsetter this summer when one of its neurosurgeons became the first person in the Northside system to use a new spinal fusion implant that is designed to help people who are suffering from chronic back pain.

Dr. Matthew Hazzard performed the procedure to fuse the OptiMesh Align device to a patient’s spine at Northside Gwinnett on July 25. The device is made by Spineology and is small enough that it minimizes the amount of tissue that is disrupted by surgery.
