Florida Woman Allegedly Fell Asleep At Wheel With Toddler, ‘Unrestrained’ Infant In Backseat, Crack Pipe

A Florida woman is facing charges after falling asleep at the wheel while driving over a bridge with a toddler and “unrestrained” infant in the backseat, authorities said.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office said Deputy Gedeon Brenovil was conducting traffic enforcement on the Stuart Causeway Bridge on Thursday when he spotted a car stopped at the top of the bridge. When he looked closer, he saw the car was running and in drive, but with the emergency brake engaged, “as if the driver had fallen asleep in the middle of traffic.”

Deputies found the driver, 37-year-old Abby Lyn Schagrin, asleep at the wheel with an alleged crack pipe in “plain view” beside her. A toddler and a sleeping, “unrestrained” infant were in the backseat…
