UNM professor’s lawsuit will not move forward in federal court

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) –  A lawsuit over the punishment that a University of New Mexico professor faced for an inappropriate relationship with a student will no longer move forward in federal court. Nick Flor, an associate professor for UNM’s Anderson School of Management, was suspended for one year without pay after admitting to a relationship with a graduate student in 2018.

In a lawsuit filed in 2020, Flor claims the university never got adequate due process and could not face his accuser. A federal judge has now issued a summary judgment in UNM’s favor for some elements of the case. The lawsuit was sent to state court to consider one remaining issue.
