Alleged gunman in Holladay shooting faces criminal charges

HOLLADAY — Criminal charges were filed Monday against a man who allegedly shot another man in the leg from close range, causing the leg to fracture in four places.

Francisco Jesus Moreno, 38, was charged in 3rd District Court with shooting a gun and causing serious injury and drug possession with intent to distribute, first-degree felonies; aggravated assault resulting in serious injury and being a restricted person in possession of a gun, second-degree felonies; two counts of drug possession, a third-degree felony; and marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, class B misdemeanors.

On Aug. 24, Unified police responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment near 4900 S. Highland Dr. A woman told police that her boyfriend “was lying on the bed while she was folding laundry on the bed. (She) said that (Moreno) was standing near the doorway. (He) told (the boyfriend) to stand up, and when (he) stood up, (Moreno) shot him in the leg,” according to charging documents…
