RENO, Nev. — On Monday, the City of Reno held one of several community meetings it’s hosting over the next month to gather community feedback on proposed zoning code amendments that would increase access to childcare facilities in rural areas.
With about 80% of Nevada’s land being rural, so-called “childcare deserts” are common across the Silver State. This refers to areas where childcare facilities are few and far between.
“I can speak as a mom when I was looking for childcare for my kids. It’s always been a challenge since I’ve been bringing up kids, and I think what we can do to remove barriers in this for people is what the city wants to do,” Vice Mayor for the City of Reno Kathleen Taylor said…
