Prince Harry Visits UK to Honor Queen Elizabeth’s Death Anniversary

Prince Harry quietly returned to the UK on Monday, marking the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing. He visited St. George’s Chapel in Windsor to pay his respects at his grandmother’s burial site.

While in the UK, the Duke of Sussex is also attending the annual WellChild Awards, a charity event celebrating seriously ill children and their caregivers. Harry has been a long-time supporter of the organization. He shared a light moment with award recipient Declan Bitmead, 17, comparing notes on sibling rivalry and the shared experience of attending the same school.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams noted the significance of Harry’s visit, particularly given the tensions surrounding his and Meghan Markle’s presence in the UK last year. Fitzwilliams also suggested that a reunion with King Charles or Prince William is unlikely during this brief trip.

It has been reported that the brothers have not spoken in approximately three years. Another royal expert, Helena Chard, confirmed Harry’s primary reason for being in Britain is his commitment to the WellChild Awards.

Harry’s visit comes amidst ongoing strained relations with the royal family, stemming from his and Meghan’s decision to step back from royal duties in 2020 and their subsequent public statements. While Harry has expressed a desire for reconciliation, the situation remains complex.

The King is expected to be at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, making a meeting with Harry during this visit improbable. The two have not met in person since February 2024.
