Brothers Honor Queen, But Stay Apart

Additional Coverage:

On the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, both Prince William and Prince Harry paid their respects, albeit separately.

Prince William, accompanied by Kate Middleton, visited the Women’s Institute in Sunningdale, England. The late Queen had a long-standing relationship with the organization, having been a member since 1943 and president of the Sandringham branch since 2003, following in the footsteps of her mother, Queen Mary. The royal couple spent time with current members, sharing tea and conversation.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry, in the UK for the annual WellChild Awards, paid a private visit to Queen Elizabeth’s burial site at Windsor Castle, where he laid a wreath in her memory. He serves as a patron for WellChild, a charity supporting seriously ill children and their families.

While geographically close, the brothers’ separate commemorations underscore the ongoing rift in their relationship. Tensions have been present since Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure from royal duties in 2020 and were further exacerbated by their subsequent interview with Oprah Winfrey and the release of Prince Harry’s memoir. The brothers were last seen together publicly at King Charles’ coronation in May 2023.
